Richard E. Grant was finally banished

Week 2 picked up exactly where we left things – with Richard E. Grant firmly in the firing line at the first Round Table.

After spending much of Week 1 trying to recover from essentially telling Joe Lycett that he was a Traitor, there was really only one way this was going.

Richard was banished and confirmed that the Faithfuls had got it right: he was a Traitor.

So, one Round Table in and the Faithfuls had already caught one.

Not bad going.

Unfortunately, things went slightly downhill from there.

Professor Hannah Fry became the new Traitor

With Richard gone, Maya Jama and James Acaster were given the chance to recruit rather than murder another player.

Their choice?

Professor Hannah Fry.

Hannah accepted the offer and became the newest Celebrity Traitor, joining Maya and James in the turret.

It was a clever choice on paper. Hannah was already proving herself to be analytical, observant and potentially dangerous to the Traitors.

The slight problem was that people noticed something had changed almost immediately.

Miranda Hart in particular started watching Hannah very closely.

Myha’la was banished – and she was a Faithful

After successfully getting rid of Richard, the Faithfuls managed to undo some of their good work by turning their attention to Myha’la.

Her big problem?

That wink at Richard.

What had looked like an innocent interaction suddenly seemed incredibly suspicious once Richard revealed himself as a Traitor.

The group convinced themselves there must have been more to it and Myha’la was banished.

She then revealed that she had been a Faithful all along.

One Traitor caught. One Faithful wrongly banished.

Back to square one.

Bella Ramsey was murdered

Episode 4 opened with another blow for the Faithfuls.

Bella Ramsey had been murdered by the Traitors.

Bella had been vocal with theories and had already shown herself willing to question people, making her a dangerous person to leave in the game for too long.

With Bella gone, suspicion quickly started moving elsewhere.

And one person attracting quite a lot of it was the newly recruited Hannah.

Hannah Fry came VERY close to being caught

Being a Traitor wasn’t exactly doing wonders for Hannah’s nerves.

Miranda Hart became particularly suspicious of her and started asking questions about Hannah’s behaviour following Myha’la’s exit.

By the next Round Table, Hannah was seriously in danger.

But then attention swung towards Julie Hesmondhalgh.

The final vote became extremely close between Hannah and Julie, before Julie received enough votes to be banished.

And, once again…

Julie was a Faithful.

Hannah escaped by the skin of her teeth.

Who left Celebrity Traitors in Week 2?

By the end of Friday’s episode, another four names had joined the eliminated list:

  • Richard E. Grant – Banished, Traitor
  • Myha’la – Banished, Faithful
  • Bella Ramsey – Murdered
  • Julie Hesmondhalgh – Banished, Faithful

That left Maya Jama, James Acaster and Professor Hannah Fry as the three Traitors heading into the next stage of the game.

And then came the crypt twist…

Just when everyone thought the Traitors would choose their next murder in the usual way, Claudia arrived with another twist.

The Traitors had to select four Faithfuls:

Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, Ross Kemp and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

One of them could be saved using a key, and the group chose Leigh-Anne.

That left Romesh, Rob and Ross heading towards the crypts, knowing one of them would be murdered face-to-face by the Traitors.

And naturally, that was where Friday’s episode ended.

Because apparently nobody at the BBC believes in letting us have closure.

Where did Celebrity Traitors stand after Week 2?

After four episodes, the Traitors were:

Maya Jama
James Acaster
Professor Hannah Fry

The Faithfuls had successfully identified one Traitor, but had also wrongly banished Myha’la and Julie Hesmondhalgh.

Meanwhile, Hannah was already under serious suspicion and either Romesh, Rob or Ross was about to become the next murder victim.

So yes.

Things were going brilliantly.

For the Traitors, anyway.
