Emmerdale spoilers for 31st August–4th September 2026
It has been a brutal time in the village. Jimmy King has died, Dawn Taylor has also died and Joe Tate is left utterly heartbroken after the wedding disaster.
This week, Emmerdale moves into the aftermath, with DS Thea Ramsden (what is with her?!), Serena, Kim, Charity, Sarah, Gabby, Vinny, Kev and Lewis all caught up in the fallout.
The biggest storylines this week include:
- The village is left grieving after the horrific events at Dawn and Joe’s wedding venue.
- Nicola faces the devastating loss of Jimmy, while the villagers try to process what happened.
- Joe is shattered after losing Dawn so soon after the crash and the birth of their baby boy.
- DS Thea Ramsden continues investigating the wedding disaster and starts looking closely at what caused Jimmy’s car to leave the road.
- Thea’s connection to Serena becomes more important as the pair discuss the next stage of their plan.
- Thea appears to have her own agenda, especially when it comes to Kim Tate and Home Farm.
- A flashback reveals more about Thea’s past, making it clear there is more to her than the village first realised.
- Gabby is left troubled after the crash investigation uncovers signs that another vehicle may have been involved.
- Gabby speaks to Lewis, but it is clear she is hiding something or struggling with guilt.
- Vinny decides to put his plans to propose to Lewis on hold.
- Vinny is already in a complicated position because he is still married to Gabby.
- Kev accidentally becomes involved when Vinny worries he may have overheard a private conversation.
- Vinny decides to trust Kev and opens up to him, but Kev’s reaction leaves him worried he may have made a mistake.
- Sarah continues to struggle with guilt over Dr Todd’s death.
- Bear talks to Sarah about the emotional toll that killing Todd must be having on Charity, unaware that Sarah is the one carrying the real guilt.
- The day of Dr Todd’s funeral brings everything flooding back for Sarah.
- Charity tries to help Sarah by organising a family meal at Jacob’s Fold.
- The family gathering falls apart when DS Thea Ramsden arrives with questions about inconsistencies in Charity’s statement.
- Charity is taken to the police station for questioning.
- Forensic evidence starts to undermine Charity’s version of events.
- Sarah is left even more consumed by guilt and wants to tell the police everything.
- Serena panics when she realises Sarah’s confession could expose her own role in covering up what really happened.
- A mystery arrival in the village brings fresh accusations and could cause even more devastation.
So this week’s Emmerdale is all about grief, suspicion and secrets. Jimmy and Dawn’s deaths have rocked the village, but the fallout is only just beginning.
